What is Kundalini Yoga and Meditation?
Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. When we practice this form of yoga, we create a union between our current awareness and infinity, which allows us to have an experience at the soul level. It's a technology, not a religion. No matter where you are in life and health, these techniques work. You will gradually become more authentically you. There is no greater peace than the feeling of being at home within ourselves, no matter where we are in life.
We utilize breath, body postures, mudra (hand placement), eye-focus, and mantra to balance and strengthen the glandular and nervous systems, and bring the "monkey mind" under our command. The mind is our tool to use, but if we aren't at the reigns, it will use us. When this happens, our lives feel out of control.
There is always a meditation with every yoga class. The yoga set, or kriya, helps clear away resistance and blockages in the mind and body and prepares us for meditation. The meditations are sometimes still, sometimes active, and always have a specifically desired outcome. There is always a focus on conscious breathing.
No prior experience is needed to come to a class. Start where you are. You're already perfect.
